Introduction

This quarter there have been improvements to the Simacan platform. Below you can read what is new.

July

July was all about back-end developments, architecture, vacations and functionalities that were delivered later this quarter (See below).

NEW: Realized-Asset-Service

Simacan has set up a new data service: The 'Realized-Asset-Service'. Where the well-known Realized-Trips-Service shares data about planned and realized driving times and stop times, this new Realized-Asset-Service sends data about when and where a vehicle has stood still during the journey. This makes it possible for analysts to recognize where breaks have been taken, for example, or to better understand how much time is needed to deliver to a certain location. This can make planning more realistic and more feasible for drivers.

Please note: Initially, we only support standstills from the FMS system: Webfleet in this service. In the future, we will expand this to other FMS systems.

⏰Carriers can now snooze their own exceptions

Previously, a trip could only be snoozed by the owner of the planning. Subsequently, it was also snoozed in other Control Towers in which this trip was visible. From now on, it is possible, provided the correct role is set, for another party to be in the lead to snooze a trip or not. This way, as an organization, you keep a clean list that shows the most important exceptions from your perspective. We expect this to further improve the collaboration between shippers and carriers.

⚠️New exception; No GPS data (anymore)

In the triplist it was already recognizable for a while when a trip no longer received GPS. Now we have also made an exception for this, which means that such trips are shown as an exception in the exception tab. This way you as a trip leader / planner are even better informed about the visibility of the operation and you can take action.

Improvement of the breadcrumbs

Several improvements have been made to the breadcrumbs (GPS):

  • If many GPS points (breadcrumbs) overlap, they are now bundled.
  • It is then possible to click on the bundle and view the order and specific times.
  • A start and end time is also shown if the driver was stationary, which provides interesting insights and above all quickly shows the user where the driver was stationary for longer.

These improvements provide planners and analysts with insights into where a driver has potentially taken a break, for example, or which other locations were visited during the trip, deviating from the planning.

Control Tower remembers filters after logging out

Have you set a specific filter and then log out? The Control Tower can remember which filters you have recently used and shows them immediately after logging in. This reduces clicks and shows relevant information to our users even faster.
