Automatic diversions for road closures: Always the best route

The Simacan platform takes into account road closures on A-roads and key logistical N-roads in the Netherlands and automatically routes diversions. We use validated data on current and planned closures from our partners ANWB Verkeersredactie and TomTom, supplemented where necessary. This feed is moderated by Simacan to ensure that only reliable, relevant, and usable information is shown on the platform.

Including planned closures
We also include planned and confirmed closures not yet listed in public databases. The platform then automatically updates (planned) routes accordingly. This ensures that you always have the most up-to-date and optimal route, with no manual input required.

What does this functionality do?

  • The Simacan platform automatically detects road closures on your planned transport routes and adjusts these routes instantly. This ensures that the trip always reflects the actual traffic situation.
We specifically take into account the scheduled trip time as well as the planned start and end time of the closure. This applies to both active trips and those planned for the future.

  • ETAs of active trips are automatically recalculated based on the suggested diversion route.

  • The originally planned route (dotted line) and the adjusted route (solid line) are both visible on the map in the trip details.

Road closures are visually represented with a red ‘X’, with the driving direction indicated by a grey arrow.

Easily filter trips with diversions

  • Activate the ‘Trips with diversions’ toggle in the filter panel on the left.

  • You will then immediately see in the ‘Trips’ and ‘Exceptions’ overviews which trips are affected by a road closure.

  • A notification at the top of the trip list will show that a filter is active and how many results it returns.

Benefits

Thanks to these improvements, you gain more control over your transport processes and can proactively respond to changes. This leads to better coordination across the supply chain, greater predictability in your operations, more efficient planning, and improved communication with your customers.
